At Whole Health Chiropractic, we are launching a trauma-informed program to support the mental and emotional health of first responders, their families, and survivors of domestic violence in Madison County. Currently in the process of grant approval and private funding, this initiative aims to provide access to life-changing care—including brain mapping, neurofeedback, nutritional support, and specialized counseling—for those who often face the highest levels of stress and the greatest barriers to help.
Dr. Amanda is deeply passionate about this work. She believes that every person carries a powerful story and likens each individual to a quilt—made up of different pieces: some good, some painful, all important. When trauma disrupts the way the brain processes these pieces, it can prevent people from functioning at their best. “If someone is answering my emergency call,” she says, “I want them optimized.”
We are actively seeking donations and community support to help bring this vital program to life. Your contribution can help transform the lives of those who sacrifice daily for our safety and well-being.
Whole Healing, Lasting Legacy: A Trauma Recovery Initiative for Madison County
The increasing prevalence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (cPTSD) among first responders, their families, and individuals impacted by domestic violence in Madison County represents a significant and growing mental health crisis. These populations often experience the compounding effects of trauma, stress, and emotional strain that hinder their ability to function effectively, impacting not only their well-being but also their families and communities. Tragically, this often results in higher rates of mental illness, substance abuse, and, in many cases, suicidal ideation.
The proposed funding request aims to provide scholarships to individuals affected by PTSD/cPTSD, with a focus on first responders, their families, and survivors of domestic violence in Madison County, to access comprehensive, evidence-based mental health treatments. The scholarship will cover expenses for brain mapping and neurofeedback therapy, which is a FDA approved non-invasive technique designed to regulate brain function and improve emotional regulation. Additionally, it will include nutritional evaluation and support, HRV (Heart Rate Variability) testing, and wearing a Whoop device to aid in self-regulation, as well as counseling services and the balancing of primitive reflexes to enhance overall mental and emotional health.
Program Overview
The treatment plans will span three durations—3 months, 6 months, and 12 months—allowing for flexibility based on the needs of the individuals served. Treatment plans will be determined at the initial visit to determine the individual protocol. Through a combination of state-of-the-art neurofeedback, nutritional support, and holistic counseling services, our goal is to track, support, and stabilize the symptoms of PTSD and related conditions. This will be accomplished through measurable data points that demonstrate improvements in brain function and the autonomic nervous system, ultimately leading to more balanced and resilient mental health.
The program will be modified to each individual’s needs. Below is the list of options that would be tailored to each patient:
- OligoScan
- Primitive Reflexes
- Blood Labs
- HRV testing
- Whoop Device
- Nutrition Sessions
- Therapy Specific
- Psychoeducation
- CBT, IFS, & EMDR
- Breathwork
- Equine therapy
The success of this program will be evaluated by tracking the progress of participants through various data points (brain mapping, HRV, and emotional assessments) to ensure that improvements are sustained over time. Additionally, the program will provide participants with the necessary tools, knowledge, and coping mechanisms to manage their symptoms and operate at a higher capacity, ultimately reducing the likelihood of future mental health crises or suicidal ideation.
Collaborative Effort
Whole Health Chiropractic will partner with LoveJoy Legacy Counseling & Wellness to ensure that the services provided are both comprehensive and tailored to the specific needs of the patients. The combination of functional chiropractic care, brain training, and counseling will provide a holistic approach to trauma recovery, promoting overall wellness and long-term mental health stability.
This funding is essential to make these services accessible to individuals who need them most, those who have served and sacrificed for our communities, as well as families affected by domestic violence, all of whom often face unique barriers to accessing mental health care. By supporting these individuals, we aim to not only stabilize their mental health but also empower them to live healthier, more resilient lives, free from the crippling effects of trauma.
